Join us for an evening focused on how teams are approaching data sharing and data contracts in real systems. We’ll explore what’s changing in modern data platforms, what’s working in practice, and how engineers are building more reliable, interoperable data workflows.
You’ll also have the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with engineers and developers across Sydney’s tech community.

Tech talks

Session 1: Open Data Sharing in the Lakehouse Era
Zac Davies, ANZ Field CTO - Lead Solution Architect, Databricks
Data sharing has evolved from SFTP drops and static data portals to open, interoperable architectures. With lakehouse table formats becoming the standard for structured data, new sharing patterns are possible. This session explores how Delta Sharing enables secure, cross-platform access to Delta Lake and Apache Iceberg tables across engines and tools.

Session 2: Data Contracts that Actually Work
Peter Flook, Principal Software Engineer, Audax
This talk will go beyond schemas and documentation, exploring how data contracts can be embedded into CI/CD, governance, and validation workflows to prevent breaking changes and silent downstream failures. It's a practical, intermediate-level session — exactly the kind of content our community loves.
